house sounds

morviscous

Deerhoof meets John Zorn in this energetic, honest and sure footed release from Morviscous. ‘house sounds’ combines the instant engagement of ‘absolutely modern’ music with a tasteful dissection of eras past. Recorded in the living room of a now defunct hackney residence and mixed/produced in the belly an old whiskey distillery in Aldgate, the second album from the london/paris group is a clear step forward and builds on the unique sound of their critically acclaimed debut, ‘free pop’. This time around the arrangements extend beyond the instrumentation of the group, exploring ambient sound worlds and electronic textures, complimenting a more aggressive live ensemble.

'consistently absorbing and exciting' Ian Mann – The Jazz Mann
