Starting out as the the guitarist in British Indie band The Rakes, his first solo recording, out on Trestle Records, takes its cue from a long standing appreciation of Krautrock. Primarily guitar based, the album sets out to achieve a propulsive and open ended linear sound. It mixes Germanic influences with Matthew’s stripped back clean playing and an unmistakable British pop ear for addictive hooks and melody.
