morviscous
Since releasing the critically acclaimed long players 'Free Pop' (2007) and 'House Sounds' (2011) Morviscous have continually, to quote Stewart Lee's glowing review of the former – 'reappraised the theoretical prepunk cul-de-sac' Having spent previous records pushing the boundaries of common themes or narratives within a body of work, this recording uses the double A-side single format to present two contrasting approaches to instrumental music. After a decade of playing together, Cargo & Vexed is a fascinating snapshot of the rich vein of influences that groups of any genre find themselves subject to in the contemporary musical age. Similar to the post-everything territories explored by Polar Bear, Don Caballero, Do Make Say Think and Portico Quartet this music plunders the canons of prog, jazz, rock and experimental pop to reflect a sound only possible in the now.
