EQLS are Milo Fitzpatrick (Portico Quartet) and Nick Siddall (Morviscous, Talk In Colour). An experimental collaboration that explores a sound world consisting of analogue synths, looped sampling, found sounds and processed electric guitar. Born from extended improvisations over the course of last summer, the resulting tracks capture an immersive electronic music that explores the balance between rhythmic and ambient, the performed and the programmed. Having met some years ago whilst studying at Goldsmiths College, London, this recording is in many ways the beginning of an answer to the problem of writing rich and challenging music in the duo format, bringing together elements from the ambient electronic and experimental worlds. EQLS create an informed collage which in some respect reflects the industrial / urban landscape they inhabit as well as more ethereal elements that nod to the likes of Tim Hecker, Max Richter, Vangelis and the mechanical inevitability of Cluster and Harmonia.
