taketi uloomu

The new twelve track record from Taketi Uloomu see's a redirection from New York based composer Kyo Hiraki. Recorded in London and New York during 2013 the focus is far more on pop-electronica instrumentals without forfeiting the brooding, ambient and experimental qualities from the previous release on Trestle. Programmed beats and metronomic ticks carry the up-tempo backing for lush synth washes and fingered melodic lines to weave among effects. As with previous works the pieces have a filmic quality that reflect Taketi Uloomu's obsession with science fiction, mystery and horror films and the instrumental works of those musicians who compose the atmospheric accompaniment for visuals. The collaging of electronic sounds both retro and contemporary, analogue alongside digital, into atmospheric sound worlds takes notable influence from soundtrack composition, krautrock, electro and hip hop production.
